Big Day Out support Slade back in 2001; Chris and Dave strike a pose
19/06/08
Another day, another Doggett and Ephgrave fundraising event; it has just been announced that Buddy Holly and the Cricketers will be playing a special D & E 'benefit gig' at the Market Theatre, Hitchin, on Monday 30th of June 2008. David is delighted to be donning the horn-rimmed spectacles in his hometown of Hitchin, and said:
“We have been very lucky that the show's producer Simon Fielder has given us permission to stage the show for nothing. All the cast are donating their services for free and the Artistic Director of the Market Theatre, Kirk Foster, has also given us the theatre for the night. Normally we play big venues, but the Market Theatre should have a great atmosphere as it's such an intimate space”.

STOP PRESS - BIG DAY OUT REUNION GIG ANNOUNCED!
Yes, the unthinkable is about to happen! It has just been confirmed that Big Day Out will be reforming in late July, to help raise money towards the Doggett and Ephgrave Edinburgh Festival Fund. The popular Hertfordshire-based band - who in their time gained a large following, supporting the likes of Slade, the Troggs, Kula Shaker and The Supernaturals - will be playing a one-off gig at Club 85 in Hitchin on Thursday 24th of July; their first appearance in six years. It promises to be a very special night with many a surprise in store for all. Support will come from My Pet Junkie (with another band yet to be confirmed).

With the month-long festival run of “The Balloon Debate” looming ever nearer, Mr Doggett and Mr Ephgrave have just returned from a two day Edinburgh recce to suss out what else needs to be done (not to mention what needs to be added to their ever-growing credit card balance). Whilst there they visited the venue, their digs and even found time to do a spot of sightseeing (PLEASE NOTE: No haggis was eaten during this trip). For a handful of pictures of their adventures, visit the news page of www.doggettandephgrave.co.uk.
On a totally unrelated note, David will be busting out his horn-rimmed spectacles on Sunday the 9th of June, for a one-off Buddy Holly and the Cricketers gig at Bicester Shopping Centre (who says his career is stalling?!). He will be playing two sets; one at 11.00am and one at 2.00pm.

The 'World of David Ephgrave' is an exciting place to be of late...not to mention a busy one. Final preparations are being made for Doggett and Ephgrave's latest comic extravaganza "The Balloon Debate", which is previewing at the Queen Mother Theatre Studio, Hitchin on the 17th - 18th of July, before going onto the Gilded Balloon for the duration of the Edinburgh Festival (30th July - 25th of August). For a sneaky glimpse of Glyn and David putting the finishing touches to the script click here.
Also, our David is in the midst of planning a number of exciting projects to help raise funds in the lead up to the festival. One of the events on the 'things to do list' could be very special indeed (not to mention most unexpected). Keep an eye open on the site for more details, which will be announced shortly.
In the meantime, we hope you enjoy the new-look site. Enjoy.
