Stop/Go Man
There’s a man in my home town of Hitchin, who when walking about town, will just randomly stop for no reason. He can stop for what sometimes seems like hours, before he resumes his journey. As a result, he is known amongst my circle of friends as “Stop-Go Man” (my friends being particularly witty and imaginative).
In my student days I used to live in a large flat which offered a panoramic view of Hitchin. The moment Stop-Go man came into view, we would place bets as to when and where he would make his stop. “By the bin?”… “By the tree?”....oh, how those long winter afternoons would fly by…
